Well hello there...long time no see | Long Over-due Explanation + Question

tháng 12 17, 2017     Beckie, updates     No comments

*peeks around corner* Well hello there everyone! Remember me? No? Yes? Ah, okay so I've been MIA since October. I know, I know, bad Beckie! *scolds self*

So this is going to be kind of a long post since there's a lot I have to say so please bear with me because it's important to me and hopefully is to my wonderful loyal readers.

For the past few months, my life has changed immensely. First of all, I recently adopted a new kitten. His name is Toby and he's quite a handful. My life has had so much love and joy from being a mom to two wonderful cats.

Here are a few pics of him and of both my kitties together.

These two cuties have been keeping me busy. If you have ever owned a kitten then you understand. ;)  I've also been doing a lot of volunteer work for a local company that works with Christain artists. I work at the merch tables for many different singers and bands. To name a few, Newsong, Kari Jobe, For King and Country, and so many more. Its so much fun and I get to meet some awesome talent!

Anyway, so I want to be honest with you all and tell you I've not really had the motivation to blog for the past few months. I haven't been reading much either. I kind of lost my mojo for my blog and I know a lot of this is because I have had other interests taking up my time but also I feel like no one really cares much for my content. When I put my heart and soul into my posts and reviews I would very rarely get comments. The only time anyone would comment was if they had to to enter a giveaway. I'm not singling anyone out and I'm not mad or anything but it's nice to hear a "great review" or "I enjoyed this post". These types of comments make a blogger feel that he or she is doing good and should keep putting out content. Does that make sense? Hopefully, no one takes this the wrong way.

So with that out of the way I have a question for everyone.

Would anybody be interested or care if I reviewed or talked about video games on my blog as well occasionally? I have a real passion for video games and to be completely honest it’s been something that I’ve been doing a lot of lately. I’ve always been a big gamer but I don’t often share that side of myself with you guys on my blog because I figure it’s a book blog but would anybody be interested in me doing a few posts here in there about video games?

Give me a comment and let me know.

Overall my goal is to start working on cleaning up some stuff for my blog. There’s a lot of imaging problems because the photo bucket recently adding the payment for a third party hosting so I’m going to have to try to find another free image hosting site if anybody knows of one please let me know in the comments as well. I would also absolutely love to have a new blog layout but unfortunately, I’m not made of money so I might just have to stick with the one I have unless anyone knows someone that could do it cheap or would be nice enough to do it for me for free. Just send me a message or email me if you know of someone that would be willing to do that for me.

Ideally, I would love to start blogging again and really getting it back to where it was. I’ve missed blogging a lot last several months but I’ve just been so busy and preoccupied with other stuff. Once I get things clean up some here I'm really going to try and start blogging again. So be on the lookout for new posts coming soon. Thank you for reading this long post and I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas or Hanukkah or whatever happy holidays that you celebrate.

Would anyone be interested in reading video game reviews or content occasionally on my blog?

Yes.
No
Oh yeah, I love video games!
Nah, but more book content would be great!
Doesn't matter

Why I've been MIA

tháng 5 12, 2017     Beckie, update     No comments

Hello gang!

You may have noticed 2017 has been very slow for me putting up content. Well, unfortunately, that has been out of my control. Many of you don't know that I was diagnosed with Diabetes back in Nov 2016. My A1C was high and my blood sugars have been out of control. I was put on insulin and pills to help with the issue as well as a diet of low sugar and carbs. The good thing is I've lost weight eating healthier but the bad is I'm still struggling with my A1C being high so because of this it has compromised my immune system thus allowing me to be more open to catching other sicknesses. Since Feb I've had:

  • A bad cold
  • A flu
  • Pneumonia, with strep throat and tonsillitis
  • Another bad cold, with ear infection and tinnitus (currently dealing with now)
THIS is why I haven't been blogging much at all and I will tell you, I absolutely hate being sick all of the time and then getting so far behind in blogging, emails, and such that now I feel so overwhelmed that I was actually thinking about quitting my blog altogether.  Realistically I won't quit but I feel like I'm loosing my following because I'm unable to be active at this time.

What do you all think? Does anyone understand about this? Should I be feeling bad that I'm not able to keep up currently?

I'm feeling so lost at this point in time..... I'm sure you all could care less but I at least wanted to explain where I have been,

Hopefully, within the next couple days, I'll be back to blogging. For now please be patient with me.

Happy 2017!

tháng 1 01, 2017     Beckie, update     No comments

Happy New Year everyone!

2016 is finally over! *phew* 2017 is here and with it comes changes, both personal and on my blog. So my main goal for this year is to be a better blogger. I want to post more content, more reviews, more giveaways and work on a more personally level with authors/publishers. Pretty much be more coincidence. The last half of 2016 I admit I was being lazy with updating my blog. There was a lot of factors that added my laziness, the main one being involved in another interest, gaming! I am a huge gamer and just recently got a PS4 Christmas, so basically I've been on my new toy a lot.

So yeah, excuses, excuses! *eye roll*

Point is I am going to try hard to make Bittersweet Enchantment better in 2017! Also, I wanted to note that my co-blogger Kim has left her position on my blog so I know longer have help. I do have that job open now as well as reviewers. If you're interested please check out this LINK.

I hope everyone has had a wonderful holiday and I wish you well in 2017! One of my resolution for the new year is to read more book! I only read 65 books in 2016. That is unheard of for me, normally I read 100+ books. I also want to finish more series. I have a tendency to start a series and never finish them.

What are some of your new year's resolutions?
What books are you most looking forward to in 2017?!?

RIP sweet angel, Nikki! + Welcome my new addition, Paris!

tháng 10 02, 2016     Beckie, update     No comments

With extreme sadness, I'm here today to talk about the loss of my best friend and furbaby, Nikki. Almost a month I had to make one of the most difficult decisions I've ever had to make, to put to sleep my 18-year-old min-pin, Nikki. Her health had been deteriorating slowly over the last year. She was almost blind, deaf, had trouble walking, was not eating much, and sleep almost 22 hours a day. I know she was in pain too and it broke my heart to see her dealing with all of this every day. As I type this there are tears swimming in my eyes. I miss her so much. My heart aches every day not being able to see her anymore and give her hugs and kisses. Nikki was there for my through all the hardships I've had to endure over the last several years, never leaving my side. I cry and remain grieving every day. It has gotten easier but I still feel like a piece of my heart is missing.

I just got back her ashes a few days ago and of course was a blubbering mess. I am trying to save up to buy this Personalized Cremation necklace. It's been hard since I've had to spend hundreds of dollars on euthanasia fee's among other money spent.
This is one of the main reasons why I've not blogged in a while. I just needed some time to grieve.

Here are some pics of my beautiful angel, Nikki.

When one door closes in your life, another one will open...

I love that quote, don't  you? Little did I know a new door had already started to open before I lost my Nikki. Three days before I put Nikki to sleep we were out for a walk. I've just recently moved into a home instead of an apartment and my mailbox is near the side of the road. I didn't like walking Nikki up there since she had trouble seeing and I didn't want her to get hit or anything but on this day she seemed to be leading me up in that direction, almost pulling me there. Well once I get up there near my mailbox I see a box sitting at the side of the road and was shocked to find a kitten inside. He was abandoned by whomever and covered in fleas, and thin. I knew right then I needed to rescue this poor thing and find a good home for him. I ended up dropping him off at a friend's house who would foster him until a perfect home could be found. On the day before I decide to put Nikki to sleep my Mother and Father call to tell me that I can keep the kitten if I want. I seriously went into shock, because of my finances it had been difficult to pay for Nikki's needs and my parents have been helping out some. So to be told I can keep this little sweetheart was an amazing feeling. I have never owned a cat before much less a kitten. I've always had dogs for pets. This a whole new world for me and I'm so loving it!! He has made losing Nikki easier and helped me through my grief.

Without further ado, please help me in welcoming my new 4-month-old kitten
PARIS!

I'm back from the dead!!! *moans like a ghost*

tháng 8 05, 2016     Beckie, update     No comments

Nah, I'm just kidding. Although it does feel like things around here have been a ghost town with the complete lack of me posting. I have good reason for that too! I do, I promise.

Guess what? I moved to PARIS!!
No, not really...but that would be awesome, right?!

Truthfully, I did in fact move. August 1st I moved a town over from where I live now. All of July I had been working on the time consuming and tedious task of packing my entire life up in boxes, many MANY boxes. *sigh* I'd say a good 1/3 of them were books. My moving guys keep looking at me like I was crazy. One of them actually said. "There has to be at least 4000 books here!" I was like, "Pretty much!" *nervous laugh*

Anyway, so that's where I have been for the last several weeks. There really hasn't been any posting going on. I am way behind on picking giveaway winners, posting up reviews, emails, and so much more on here. I'm so sorry to my blog readers, authors, publishers and so forth about all of this. It's been a while since I've had to move and I didn't fully realize how much effort and time goes into it. Right now I am on the home stretch, so to speak. I'm working on unpacking...YAY! SO MUCH FUN! *shakes head no*

For the next week or so I am going to be working on the unpacking and cleaning part, so give me a little bit more time to get that done and then things around here will go back to normal. Actually, things are going to be better than the "norm". I'm really going to be working on posting a lot more than I use to and will be having some really fun things coming up soon. One of which is more giveaways!! Please bare with me a bit longer and thank you for stopping by even when there was nothing going on. ;)

You guys totally rock! I can't wait to get back into book blogging and reading again!
See ya all soon!
